This is how we roll
About us
Our culture is what we make of it.
We do not prescribe company culture by guideline document. We shape our culture together.
Everyone can and should contribute. For us, culture is what arises when we express mutual respect with kudos cards, when colleagues cook together during lunch break or when teams organize the conplement board game evening. We talk a lot, laugh all the more and (very importantly!) don’t take ourselves too seriously.
What we stand for
-
Appreciation
Our way of interacting with each other is respectful, tolerant and mindful. We don’t pretend and treat each other in an honest and reliable manner.
-
Fulfillment
It is important to us to find joy and meaning in our work, to exploit our own potential and not to be overwhelmed by it.
-
Community
We care for a harmonious cooperation, helpfulness towards others and solving problems together.
-
Curiosity
We are willing to try new ways and continuously develop through creativity and flexibility in order to remain fit for the future.
-
Self-determination
Within known framework conditions and tasks, we design on our own authority and act responsibly.
What's important to us
-
Be yourself
Neckties aren’t your thing and formality is too stiff for you?
Good, we feel that way too. Whether you prefer to work in the office or at home, need as many contacts as possible or prefer to have your peace of mind, we want to get to know you – simply the way you are.
-
Flexible and creative
From culture to office furniture, from the development process to your career ladder – we are flexible and count on your creativity to make conplement even better.
-
Not perfect but authentic
Mistakes happen at all levels. We also don’t expect you to be able to do everything or be without faults. You do, however, need to be willing to experiment and be passionate about your job. You should be passionate about the things you do.
Our idea of “pursuing a career” is to grow every day, step by step, according to your personal roadmap. This also means being able to contribute more and enjoying what you do.
Because you’re hot for it and feel that you are moving forward.
-
Moving in the right direction – together
Making the vision of conplement tangible for you again and again is one of the most important tasks of both your team lead and management.
Your career isn’t “standalone” here, but in harmony with your colleagues and the corporate strategy. Only if we all pull together will your further development work. To achieve this, everyone should know and support the strategy.
In order to have everyone on board, we are in close contact and exchange ideas on a regular basis. We also hold meetings such as our annual strategy kick-off. If you have any questions, we are always ready to listen to you.
-
Onboarding and sparring
The onboarding process with us starts even before your first day. In this way, we want to ensure that you “land” at our company quickly and in a structured manner – and that you feel at home right away.
Starting on your first day at conplement, your manager will accompany you and help you understand how things work at conplement, what the processes are like, and how you can tell all the new faces apart.
Our diverse communities help you to network and get along well with us. Besides your manager you'll also find many sparring partners who support you in personal growth.
-
Your personal roadmap
For us, your career is not a predefined road with a start and a finish. It is a path that emerges as you take step by step.
Together with your Team Lead, you transform your wishes and competencies into your personal roadmap. For this purpose, we have developed our employee canvas.
For appraisals, Canvas is our tool of choice.
In the interviews, the focus is not on evaluating by means of a form, but on you as a person. Our promise: The next appraisal will be the most exhausting and longest of your career until now.
However, we can also tell you: It’ll be your best for sure.Where your journey takes you is up to you. We will accompany you.
Sharing means caring
We share our knowledge with each other. Superficial knowledge is also welcome.
Whether online in our wiki, in chats, at events, spontaneous lectures, unprepared, with slides, in one-to-one discussions or interest groups. We are always interested in exchanging ideas and learning from each other.
Community of practice
Sharing knowledge is deeply embedded in conplement’s DNA. And for us, exchanging knowledge is part of our culture.
That’s why we have established a self-organized Community of Practice. That is where we exchange our experiences on agile topics, experiment and try things out. Loosely based on this motto: Nothing is compulsory, everything is possible.
In addition, people with certain roles – such as scrum master or product owner – also meet regularly to coach each other in specific project situations.
Open Space Learning
A conference with no fixed agenda or specific speakers. Instead, more lively conversations, interesting topics and a lot of energy.
Admittedly, the Open Space principle is not entirely new, and most people have probably already heard of it. Nevertheless, we are proud to leave the daily business for a day twice a year in order to teach each other things.
Each of us can share knowledge or request a topic. We rely on our instinct when choosing the really important and interesting topics and on the self-organization of the participants.
Learning as you need it – without bureaucratic obstacles
Each person learns differently.
We at conplement respect and encourage this.
One person likes technical books, another prefers discussions, and the third learns best through trial and error. For this reason, continuing education at conplement has many facets that are as diverse as we are.
SelfLearningBudget
We' re sure you can use your learning budget properly yourself – we therefore avoid administration in this respect.
Have you always wanted to read a certain book? Go for it! If you are a book type, you can order specialist books through us. Just like that and without any order approval process.
The same applies to subscriptions to online learning platforms such as Pluralsight. If this is your way of learning and you use the subscription regularly, this is ok too.
SlackTime
Being able to use part of the working time for further education and learning – sounds good, doesn’t it?
At conplement, we have something called SlackTime. That's two hours per week (for a full-time position) that you can use for the things you’re curious about.
You’ve always wanted to try out a new tool or experiment together with colleagues? Go for it! That’s what our SlackTime is for.
Internal training opportunities
We offer you many in-house opportunities to learn new things and quench your thirst for knowledge.
You want to get to know the Scrum methodology? Then attend our internal Scrum training. As a product owner you want to dive deeper into the methodology?
Just take part in our next Deep Dive. Or join a peer-organized session on remote teamwork or Miro. Something for everyone!
Conferences
You want to attend a conference on an interesting topic? Then do it!
Because your team lead will usually not tell you which external conferences you should attend, or which you should not attend. You can choose what is right for you and moves you forward in your job. And you can do this without having to engage in annoying discussions about training budgets.
The motto of course is: Nothing is compulsory, everything is possible.
What it looks like at our company
At conplement you won’t get bored in stiff meetings – guaranteed. Instead, you can work together with your colleagues in agile mixed teams, develop creative ideas and let your passion run wild.
-
Cross-functional and agile
Product owners, scrum masters, software developers and user experience designers work together in cross-functional teams. Together we will quickly find the ideal solution.
At conplement, project work is almost always done in an agile manner. We often use Scrum and sometimes Kanban as well. Here, pragmatic approaches with an agile mindset await you, not narrow-minded process thinking.
-
Mixed teams and greenfield projects
Of course, we don’t use “bleeding-edge” technologies in every project. Sometimes we struggle through layers of legacy code as well.
Even we can’t do magic. In more and more projects, we work in teams that bring together our web, cloud and embedded competencies. Ideally, even experts from our customers join in. This often takes us into uncharted territory. We have to work iteratively with the customer to find the best way of working together.
For us at conplement AG, it is important to learn with and from each other. This can be quite exhausting, but it’s a lot of fun, too.
-
No more boring meetings
In our Innovation Hub, we have developed the concept even further:
You can write on all our walls and we can move our furniture around. So we always find the right setting – that’s flexibility in action.Of course this doesn’t happen every time, but more and more often. We make our meetings very flexible and interactive,
whether the take place on site and remotely. Boring Power Point presentations? No way! In contrast, our consumption of (virtual) sticky notes is enormous. This helps us to discuss things effectively and efficiently.
I like working at conplement because we are simply a great team – personally and professionally. There are varied tasks across exciting projects. We have the latest technologies and I can continuously develop my skills. I also have a lot of creative freedom and can make a difference.
Conplement AG is a social company where employees play a central role. The company is planning long-term and offers good development and career opportunities. It is intentional that employees continue their education on an ongoing basis.
The special thing about the conplement culture is that all employees are given freedom if they wish to exercise it and fill it conscientiously. All decisions are team decisions as well. As a result, all our employees identify with every decision and in case of an absence, it is guaranteed not to find overturned decisions upon their return.
The coolest thing about conplement are the people and our unique company culture. I find that the internal training opportunities in the company – such as our Academy, our Communities of Practice or our Learning Open Spaces – are great. Thanks to the flat hierarchies, I can contribute ideas directly to upper management and accordingly feel appreciated all around. Thanks to software engineering, consulting and product development, conplement has a nice strategy for the future.
At conplement, the decision-making processes are quick and easy, even though we are constantly growing and are spread over different locations. In out work we use modern technologies and can try out many things already at an early stage. I know examples where software developers have changed employers simply because the same technologies were used over and over. It’s definitely very different here!
I like working for conplement because it has always valued its employees. None of us are replaceable, which is why conplement is strongly committed to retaining employees in the company. The human side is never neglected – even when projects are sometimes stressful.
I like the fact that the work-life balance is important here at conplement. Also, we have cool activities such as Testing Day and Open Spaces or even Health Day.We engage with the new technologies, and together we are a really cool bunch.
Technology diversity is a positive challenge and you can learn something new every day. I enjoy great creative freedom and that my suggestions for optimizing processes and implementing technologies are welcome and can be implemented in the short term. Flexible working hours mean that I can easily balance my private affairs and my work. All divisions are closely linked, so everyone can benefit from synergy effects and you also have the feeling of being part of the big picture. Our conversational tone is relaxed and we’re always up for a laugh.
At conplement, I like the fact that there is an open corporate culture and flat hierarchies. Many things are made transparent and, above all, reasons are given why this or that decision is made. A TeamEcho every three weeks is used to check employee satisfaction who can also make suggestions right there and then. Open space formats and interactive training sessions with whiteboards instead of PowerPoint encourage people to participate instead of just listening.
For me personally, the focus is clearly – the team must be a good fit. Especially when the administrative functions are done “only” alongside the core business, it is valuable if colleagues – including management – act in concert. I had a good feeling about this from day one – and that hasn't changed in the two years since. Openness, communication, a hands-on mentality across departments, learning from mistakes and being allowed to look left and right. That’s what our team is all about. What is also great are the flexible working hours. These provide me with a work-life balance that not only looks nice in the job advertisement under “Benefits”, but is actually made possible.
Working at conplement means more than just “working”: I’ve been with them since 2018 and I am still excited. In particular the team spirit, the corporate culture and the diverse professional development opportunities stand out.You can grow, evolve and have fun. The focus here is really on the individual employee. I can contribute with my ideas and help shape them.I also think it’s great that the building up and sharing of know-how is encouraged.
I am impressed by the fact that the individuality of the people is of great importance here at conplement. In my role as Scrum Master, I experience how we come together every day – with different backgrounds, experiences and skills – and use our diversity as a strength to work on ideas and grow together. At conplement, you are appreciated for your individuality, which is something I have never experienced at any of my previous employers.
I don’t have to pretend at conplement. I’m accepted and welcomed just the way I am as a human. The flat hierarchies very good; you’re on an equal footing with everyone here. Even with management members, you can make jokes and have fun – without fear of saying or doing anything wrong. We have flexible working hours here. That suits me very well when I have private appointments. And if the workday does get more hectic, I can always take a short break at any time to take a deep breath – without being looked at askance by colleagues.
At conplement, I am particularly impressed by the fact that there are excellent concepts for employee development and further training. For example, regular meetings with your team leader give you the opportunity to actively influence your role in the company. In terms of further training, our Slacktime gives us the freedom to think outside the box, even during working hours. And that's in addition to the familiar continuing education possibilities such as training courses or conference visits. In addition, there are various events such as our Learning Open Space, the Lean Breakfast, the annual Company Kick-off and the Health Day.
The work at conplement AG is incredibly varied and diverse. With my passion for B2B marketing, I'm exactly in the right place here in the tech environment. I especially love the team spirit and the unique conplement culture. In addition, the company gives us an enormous amount of freedom. This makes self-directed work fun!
